Scaling Dramatic Heights

PRISON BREAK

Prime, 8.30pm

WHILE Lost and Desperate Housewives have softened into hit-and-miss adventures, this drama (pictured) keeps going from strength to strength.

True to its title, members of the motley crew of inmates have overcome multiple setbacks to scale the walls and get their freedom. Two weeks ago we were left dangling as the alarm was raised seconds after the troupe escaped. Our patience was tested by last week's lay-over caused by a rival network's screening of the final State of Origin game. But, tonight, we join the boys on the run.

The biggest questions are: who will evade capture, and for how long?

They are already filming a second series in the US so we can expect them to be on the run for a while.

HOUSE

Southern Cross Ten, 8.30pm

SOMEHOW Hugh Laurie was overlooked for an Emmy nomination, which proves how ridiculous such accolades are.

House is the man who says and acts like we wish we could. Imagine a day in which you said what you pleased and ignored the politically correct attitude that underscores society. House gets to live that day over and over.

The formula of the show never changes, but fans of the show aren't after substance, just attitude.

NCIS

Southern Cross Ten, 9.30pm

SOME shows succeed because of storylines, some because of familiarity (soapies) and some because of a gimmick (think Lost's bizarre twists).

There's two things that make NCIS worth a look the intriguing Mark Harmon and the delightfully unexpected Pauley Perrette.
